Client: Save That Stuff (Boston, MA)
Partner: Stack Design-Build
Challenge: The client is a community recycling center and as such, they wanted to carry the principles of recycling and reuse that define their organization through to the office in which they are headquartered. Mark Line and Stack Design-Build partnered to renovate and repurpose existing temporary offices to incorporate sustainable features and project a modern, industrial aesthetic.
Solution: The building envelope was reconstituted using continuous exterior insulation and closed-cell spray foam. Corrugated metal cladding with a brightly painted cement board wainscot accent completes the facade. The interior divides offices with polycarbonate translucent interior partitions, NuGreen recycled OSB boards form the ceiling and reclaimed painted cement board forms the floors. The main work surface is a reclaimed wooden table constructed by our partners at Stack Design-Build. The high-efficiency heat pumps were ‘right-sized’ to reduce the energy demands of the building.
